Repeat the Sounding Joy!

It's a close race, but I think that Joy to the World is my all time favorite Christmas hymn. The lyrics "repeat the sounding joy!" give me chills every time I hear them, because this is the very call of discipleship. We are called to repeat the sounding joy of the gospel. Not just at Christmas, but all year long. We are called to joyfully proclaim the birth, death and resurrection of Christ, and to let the message of the gospel fill our very souls so that we overflow with gratitude and thankfulness to our sovereign God who orchestrates all things. He is come...He is risen...He is LORD!

Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven, and heaven, and nature sing.

Joy to the world, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods,
rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.

No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found,
Far as the curse is found,
Far as, far as, the curse is found.

He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders, wonders, of His love
