There is a Fountain

This is probably one of my favorite hymns ever. I get teared up almost every time I sing the last verse. "Redeeming love has been my theme, and shall be till I die." With Easter fast approaching, I wanted to share some of my favorite hymns that speak to the sacrifice and grace that took place at the cross that day.

There is a fountain filled with blood
drawn from Emmanuel’s veins;
And sinners plunged beneath that flood
lose all their guilty stains.
Lose all their guilty stains, lose all their guilty stains;
And sinners plunged beneath that flood
lose all their guilty stains.

The dying thief rejoiced to see
that fountain in his day;
And there have I, though vile as he,
washed all my sins away.
Washed all my sins away, washed all my sins away;
And there have I, though vile as he,
washed all my sins away.

E’er since, by faith, I saw the stream
Thy flowing wounds supply,
Redeeming love has been my theme,
and shall be till I die.
And shall be till I die, and shall be till I die;
Redeeming love has been my theme, and shall be till I die.

(I often write about singing with my family, and my love of hymns. This is a video taken in June of 2006 when we sang at my parent's church in Louisiana one Sunday morning. It is my parents, my brother and sister, my uncle, Trevor and myself. I feel compelled to apologize for the lime green dress and total rear end shot before you even view it.)

Wow! Your family is talented! I did not know this. That hymn is beautiful. It never ceases to amaze me that my God should die for me! Awesome post! Loved the video! And the lime green dress!

Beautiful hymn...one of my favorites too. I also have a singing family myself and we sing a verse to that hymn that is not found in too many hymnals. It's my father-in-laws favorite. Here it is.....

When this poor lisping, stammering tongue lies silent in the grave. Then in a nobler, sweeter song, I'll sing Thy power to save.
I'll sing Thy power to save,
I'll sing Thy power to save.
Then in a nobler, sweeter song. I'll sing Thy power to save.

Have a very happy and blessed Easter!

Buffi,

My sister and I sing alto. It's quite funny, because our family is very heavy on the alto when we all get together to sing. My sister, my cousins and my aunt all sing alto! My mom is the odd one out with a soprano voice!

I love hearing our family sing. :) We are fortunate. Chris can't carry a tune (nor can ANY member of his family). Keep Jack in your thoughts!

You sound really great together. I love a good hymn sing. I would have grabbed my hymnal and chimed in with the alto part. It's my favorite ;-)
